Buying a heater, what does the wattage mean for cost?
I am looking to buy an electric fan heater vs an oil based one. I see that the electric one uses 1800 watts while the oil one uses 2000. Does this mean it cost more to run the oil based one than the electric one?
More watts more money! Oil radiation type way better!! Don`t compare electric to oil by watts. 1800 elec vs 2000 elec? 1800 uses less! –But an oil unit warms the oil in unit first, and then, heat radiates from heater for a long period of time, before power is needed to heat oil once again! With electric type, power is being used at all times heat is being produced. Oil type is also safer as far as fire hazard.
